July 4 2013- I am quoted in an article about union beer. My name is spelled wrong  and the United Brewery Workers, the beer union was at its strongest in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century before Prohibition. The larger point is that the macro breweries by and large are unionized while most craft beer is not.

Despite these small mistakes I am grateful for the attention. Besides, any publicity is good publicity – right?

I just got back from attending the Alcohol Drugs History Society conference, Under Control? in London.  I gave a paper on “Creating Bourbon: Distillers and the federal government 1862-1964.”
