Welcome to my renovated website. If you are a first-time visitor, I am very glad you are here. I first started having a website in anticipation of the publication of my first book, Brewing Battles: A History of American Beer. Brewing Battles was published in December, 2007. I have had a lot of fun talking and writing about the book, beer, and the alcoholic beverages industry.

I have had a WordPress blog for almost four years. This new site is my attempt to put the blog front and center and to give my readers a better sense of my presence in social media. Since the publication of Brewing Battles, I have started work on a new project, Dames, Dishes, and Degrees. This new website provides an opportunity for me to showcase the work I am now doing.

This new site is not completely done yet.  You may notice “Under Construction” signs on some of the pages. Please visit frequently to see further updates.

I will continue to write about beer, women, history, and nursing. I may have some things to say about politics as well. If you have been following me for any part of the five years I have been online, thank you so much. I hope you will continue to visit; leaving comments would be great. If you want to contact me, please click on the contact page. Cheers!

  1. Hello Amy,
I’m not sure if you’ll remember me, we worked together at Renaissance Manor of Westfield several years ago.
The time that we spent working together in MDS, what always stood out to me was
    your love of education.
To make a long story short, back when we worked together I had my Associate in Nursing. Over the years you came to mind as I explored returning to school and advancing my education. I did enroll at Our Lady of the Elms College in 2008 to complete the RN to BSN program. Graduated Cum Laude May of 2010, and have continued on working on MSN in nursing education. Anticipate completion of MSN May 2013. The next step Doctorate of Nursing Philosophy.
I owe you a thank you for all those years ago encouraging me to pursue advanced education.
Currently aside from working on my MSN, I am a corporate MDS Nurse for Revera
Health Systems. As well as, an Adjunct Nursing Faculty at Elms College.
You may remember I was the grandmother of my daughters 2 boys, Cameron and Jack. They are now ages 9 & 13, healthy happy and living on Cape Cod.
My son blessed us with the gift of a grandaughter Lyla in Nov. of 2009, they live on Cape Cod as well.
I hope all is well with you Aaron and the boys. Very happy to have found your website,
    congratulations on your books !!!
    Abby Hills
